Vicki (Flannery) Burnett (10/26/1949-6/10/2024) passed peacefully on June 10 th in Albuquerque.
Born in Kentucky to Jack and Shella Flannery, Vicki was a bright child who loved learning and
science fiction, a lifelong passion that began while watching Star Trek with her daddy. In 1990,
Vicki was one of two women to graduate from Morehead State University with degrees in
Computer Science and Mathematics and later retired from Miami University, where she worked
as a computer programmer. Though professionally accomplished, she always said that “mother”
was her most important job.
Vicki is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Calvin Ray Burnett; children, Larry
(Heather) Cole, Jeffrey (Tiffany) Burnett, David (Maro) Burnett, and Tracy (Harley) McDaniel;
grandchildren, Garrett Cole, Trace (Katlyn) Cole, Kobey (Paige) Fowler, Tori Reinhardt, Jeffrey
(JJ) Burnett Jr., Holden McDaniel, Skyler McDaniel, and Cedar McDaniel; great-grandchildren,
Aubree, Grayson, and Bennett; siblings Mary Jo (Doug) Davis, Wade (Vickie) Flannery, Michael
(Julie) Flannery, sister-aunt Marty Hall, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
After retirement, Vicki spent countless hours quilting and sewing. To love Vicki was to have
closets full of quilts and memories full of laughter. She brought joy in many ways, through
storytelling, watching home movies, rooting for her Kentucky Wildcats basketball, playing with
grandchildren, creating costumes, and sharing her ideas.Vicki had strong opinions about
everything and always wanted to get the last word.
We love you more, Granny.
A memorial service honoring Vicki’s life will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 14, 2024, at
Immanuel Presbyterian Church (114 Carlisle Blvd SE) in Albuquerque, NM.
