Vernon Joe Shiplet

Vernon Joe Shiplet, born on September 19, 1941 in Tucumcari, passed away on September 13, 2023. He was the beloved son of Woodrow Wilson Shiplet and Violet Virginia Flint.

Vernon was predeceased by his loving wife, Edith Halen Shiplet, as well as his two sons, Don and David. He is survived by his two brothers, Ron and Dennis, and his two children, Cassandra and Erick.

Vernon's life was marked by his dedication to service. After graduating from high school, he joined the navy and proudly served from 1959 to 1963. Following his time in the military, Vernon found fulfillment working at Sandia Laboratory until his retirement.

Among Vernon's greatest joys in life were traveling and spending time with family and friends. He cherished every moment shared with loved ones and cherished memories created during their adventures.

Vernon's warm presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His kindness, generosity, and love touched the lives of many throughout his lifetime.

A celebration of Vernon Joe Shiplet's life will be held at Olive Tree on September 20, 2023 at 6:00pm. Additionally, a ceremony will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery on September 21, 2023 at 1:00pm to honor Vernon's service in the navy.
