Thomas R. Sosa Sr. 82 years, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather,
brother, uncle, and friend. Passed away on Saturday, February 18, 2023, at home.
Surrounded by his immediate family. After a courageous battle with Dementia and
Alzheimer’s.
He was born in Los Padillas, New Mexico to Alfonso and Valentina Sosa, who preceded
him in death. Also, preceded him are brothers, Frank Sosa, Dan Henry Sosa and Ernesto
Sosa. Sisters, Alpha Quill and Robert Tixier.
He was a 1959 graduate of Valley High School (Albuquerque). He attended one year at
University of New Mexico.
He worked a short time at Presbyterian Hospital, where he met Isabela, whom he married
on July 7, 1962, who survives him. Also, surviving are four children, Bernadette Sosa-
Zak and husband Marty, Tom Sosa Jr. and wife Lisa, Antoinette Squier and husband Bill
and Christopher Sosa. Eight grandchildren, Jeremy Zak and fiancé Laci Lucero, Alyssa
Zak, Dylan Zak and wife Jocelyn, Caleb Zak, Skyler Hart, Alexandra Newland and
husband Winston, Amanda Sosa, Grant Squier and fiancé Dynah Smith.
Six great-grandchildren, Sienna Zak, Masen Zak, Adeline Newland, Winston Newland
Jr., Thomas Newland and Eugene Zak. Brothers, Dr. Luis Sosa, John Sosa and wife Iris.
Sisters Teresa Loretta Sosa and Rebecca Ek. Many nieces and nephews. All of whom he
loved very much!
He worked Air National Guard full-time from 1959 to1965. New Mexico Air National
Guard Military Administration Specialist from 1959 to 1965. VA Hospitals from 1967 to
1996. New Mexico Real Estate Commission from 1996 to 2021. He also created a
Hispanic Employment program, while he was in Los Angeles, CA. He received many
honors and awards throughout his career, too many to mention.
Services will be at St John XXIII Catholic Community Church, 4831 Tramway Ridge
Drive NE, Albuquerque, NM 87111 on Wednesday, March 22,2023 at 1pm, Rosary
followed by Mass.
In lieu of flowers make donations to Alzheimer’s Association or a charity of you
choosing.
