On Wednesday July 19th, 2023, a loving mother, sister, friend and beloved wife, Theresa Martinez entered the kingdom of heaven peacefully at her home in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

She was born on January 24th in Albuquerque to Phil and Ruby Garcia. Theresa’s life was a beautiful tapestry woven with threads of love, generosity, kindness, and a beacon of light to all who knew her. A woman of many passions, she had a keen instinct for finding great bargains, loved antique shopping and collecting.

Theresa’s beautiful eyes and kind heart captured the attention of Leo Martinez, and at that moment they knew they were a match made in heaven and together embarked on a lifelong journey.

Together they went on amazing adventures traveling the world with close friends visiting Israel, Turkey, Jordan and Hawaii.

They absolutely loved to spend time together and after 40 wonderful years, their love remained as strong as ever.

Theresa and Leo were blessed with two incredible daughters, Mandy Lucero and Chelsea Martinez. Theresa loved and adored her two daughters and took immense pride in all of their accomplishments. She passed on many of her qualities including her love of animals, art and caring for others.

Theresa lived her life as a testament to unshakable faith, love, laughter and embracing every precious moment. Her infectious smile and delightful sense of humor will forever echo in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Theresa is preceded in death by her father, Phil Garcia, mother Ruby Garcia and brothers Felipe & Richard Lucero.

Theresa is survived by husband Leo Martinez. Daughters, Mandy Lucero and husband BJ Lucero and their son Gauge Lucero; Chelsea Martinez and boyfriend Brandon Richardson; Theresa’s sister Esther Garcia-Vargas and husband Julian Vargas; Two nephews, Damien Garcia and wife Julie Garcia; David Garcia, his daughter Destiny and her son, Pharaoh, two sons Alijah and Izaiah Garcia; Niece Angelica Trejo and wife Anita Trejo; Brothers Ernest Lucero and sister Briselda Lucero. 

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, July 29th, 2023, at B’nei Tzion Olim, located at 2410 San Mateo Pl NE, where she served, worshiped and connected with her God YHVH in her Hebraic faith.
Viewing will start at 10:00am and services at 11:00am.

Theresa will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial located on 924 Menaul Blvd NE, Albuquerque NM 87107 at 12:30 pm.   

Afterwards, Theresa’s family and friends are all welcome back at B’nei Tzion Olim for refreshments and finger food.
