Tercio Chavez age 78, Passed away on August 17, 2024, in Albuquerque, NM. Tercio was born in Torreon, New Mexico, July 30, 1946, to Fidel and Lourdes Chavez. He is survived by his son Ted and wife Lisa Chavez and daughter Beatrice Chavez, granddaughter Carmen Elena Chavez, grandsons, Jacob Chavez, Josh Chavez and Joseph Chavez, six siblings, Gilbert and wife Maxine Chavez, Concepcion Candelaria, Fidel and wife Diana Chavez, Rosemary Chavez, George and wife Rita Chavez and Angela and husband Jose Valenzuela, two sister in-laws, Imelda Chavez and Irene Chavez as well as several nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Tercio is preceded in death by his parents Fidel and Lourdes Chavez, brothers Natividad Chavez, Ricardo Chavez, Leon Chavez and Leroy Chavez, sister in-law Socorro Chavez and brother in-law LeRoy Candelaria.                                                                                                                                                        Pallbearers will be his four grandchildren and Honorary Pallbearers will be his nieces and nephews.

Tercio was a beloved and compassionate father, son, grandparent, brother, uncle, and friend. Best described as a loving and joyful person, always greeting an acquaintance with a smile and a quick joke to lighten up their day. Tercio was a member of La Sociedad de San Jose where he served as president and lifelong member. Tercio dedicated his lifetime to community service and was known for his volunteer work at various organizations. Always ready to help someone that had fallen on challenging times. Tercio will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, September 7, 2024, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Torreon, NM. Rosary at 10:00 am and Mass at 11:00 am. Interment at Torreon Cemetery followed by a luncheon at the Torreon Community Center.
