Susan Kay (Jackson) Salazar

SUSAN KAY (JACKSON) SALAZAR passed away on February 22, 2023 at the age of 59.  She was born on July 10, 1963 at Ramey Air Force Base in Puerto Rico as the youngest of six children.  Susan was preceded in death by her infant son, Anthony, parents, Robert and Jean Jackson, brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Mary Jackson, and son-in-law Christopher Hill. 

Susan was employed for many years at the Bank of America Call Center in Rio Rancho, NM prior to becoming disabled.  Susan loved to read books, especially romance novels.  Reading was a passion that helped her pass the time as she endured 14 + years of dialysis.  Susan paid it forward by donating each book she read to the community so others could also experience the joy of reading.

Susan learned to cross-stitch and created beautiful pieces of artwork and gifted them to friends and family to use as wall decor One of her favorite cross-stitch designs is entitled “Footprints in the Sand.” 

Susan bravely fought through numerous health issues and came to a point in her life when the struggle became too much for her body to continue fighting.  A special thank you to the staff at the Dialysis Clinic and UNM Hospital for the care they provided to Susan.  The family is forever grateful for your compassion.

Susan is survived by her children, Stacy, James (Shay), grandchildren Zarina, Merrick, and Zayden, siblings, Dave, Vicki, John, and Jim along with many other family members. 

A celebration of Susan’s life will be determined at a later date.  Rest in peace, Susan.  We love you.
