Samantha Matilda Leyerly, age 36, was born in Tucson, AZ on 5/11/88. She was freed from her
earthly existence on June 10, 2024 in Albuquerque, NM. Her free spirit could no longer be
contained, and it was time for her to discover what lies beyond here.
Samantha was an artist who lived life on her own terms. She was never one to conform. As a
child, when she had gotten into cookies and had crumbs all over her face, her defense was “Did
you see me do it?”.
As an artist Samantha had an appreciation for beauty and self-expression. You never knew
what color hair or style she was going to have next. One thing you did know however, was that
her makeup would be on point. She also loved to create works of art by hand. Whether it be
drawings, quilling or vision boards, her artwork was her outlet to share her thoughts and feelings
with the world.
As our #1 pick for our zombie apocalypse team, Samantha was extremely resourceful with grit
and fierce determination. She once decided to go to Houston on her own with no funds and
made it (although a bit unconventionally including a helicopter ride for the last leg).
Samantha’s big, beautiful spirit will continue to inspire us to seek beauty in everyday life. We
will be motivated to take more chances and be our true selves. She was deeply loved and was
survived by her father Ted, mother Cindy, sister Christina, and multiple family and friends.
