Navy seaman, Roberto “Guero” Mísquez, 72, of Albuquerque, NM, went home to be with Jesus on February 7, 2024. Roberto went suddenly and with his dignity intact, as he would’ve wanted. Roberto was a stroke survivor and was amidst a valiant fight with cancer. When Roberto left his earthy body, he was surrounded by the love of those he held dearest.
Roberto graduated from Bernalillo High School in 1969, then earned his cosmetology certification from Height’s Beauty College. Roberto enlisted in the Navy in 1971, and honorably served as a seaman apprentice in the Vietnam War.
After Roberto’s military service ended, he worked for Duke City Lumber. Roberto retired from General Electric where he was a Federal Penetrant Inspector of airplane engines for 32 years.
Roberto was a nationally ranked chess player whose other hobbies included going to the lake and fishing, and teaching his girls, sons-in-law, and grandchildren to make flies and glow fish. Roberto traveled the world in the Navy, and loved taking his daughters to Disneyland, CO, D.C., and Norfolk, Virginia where he gave his hitas a tour of the USS San Diego, his Navy vessel.
Roberto was preceded in death by his dear parents Reymundo and Pauline (Perez) Mísquez; sister-in-law Gloria Mísquez.
Roberto’s biggest accomplishments were the legacies he left in those he is survived by: daughters Melanie Mísquez Telles, Nicole Mísquez Jaramillo [Nathan]. Grandchildren Benjamin, Aurora, AJ, and Abra Telles; Jasmine Rivera, Terrel and Tyrese Jaramillo; brothers Ruben Mísquez, Gerard “Tejano” Mísquez [Natalia]. Roberto adored his “worthless mutts” granddogs, Pork Chop and Sugar.
