Peter Wilhelm Bandemer, 86, of Albuquerque, NM, passed away on February 12, 2025, after a very long courageous battle with heart, and liver disease.

Peter was born on August 3, 1938, to Meta E. Bandemer in Berlin-Spandau, Germany.

Peter arrived in the USA on the T.S.S. New York ship in 1958 through Ellis Island. He joined the US Army and served from 1959-1962 for two years in France, and one year in the US and then was Honorably discharged. He became a naturalized citizen in 1962 in California. Peter married Irmgard Breschar in 1964 in New York, and they had two daughters.

Peter attended both CNM and UNM and later joined the US Army Reserves and worked for the US Army Corps of Engineers for many years and in many capacities throughout the United States and overseas. He lived and/or traveled to 41 states and 15 countries.

In retirement, Peter enjoyed traveling to Laughlin, NV, visiting family in Arizona, taking cruises, and eating at buffet restaurants. He also enjoyed collecting old cars and snowshoeing. Peter was very proud of his grandsons and enjoyed spending time with them. Especially, if it involved riding a bike, taking long walks, or water activities like river tubing, and swimming in lakes and pools.

Preceded in death by his grandparents Wilhelm and Heinriette (nee Votel) Bandemer, his mother Meta E. (nee Bandemer) Kalweit, his aunt Hella Streuber, and cousin Siegfried Luckman.

Peter is survived by Irmgard Bandemer, his daughter, Yvonne Bandemer (John) Butcher, of Albuquerque, NM, and grandsons, William Butcher and John “Van” Butcher, Jr. of Atlanta, GA. His daughter, M’shell Bandemer (Martin) Stohr, of Bradenton, FL, grandson, Skye Stohr, and step-grandsons, Carlos Stohr of Colorado, and Martin (Harvest) Stohr of Texas.
