She was truly a one of kind woman and has moved on to a new dimension.
Mrs. Nora Diane Casaus, nee Martinez, 68, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, raised in Alcalde, New Mexico, “La Villita” has completed her earthly duties. Known as a fighter her whole life, she fought a cancer battle for two and a half years. On March 20, 2025, surrounded by her devoted family, Mrs. Nora Diane Casaus exited this life and entered into her new role alongside our dear Lord and savior. She’s been patiently cared for by her loving husband, Gerald “Jerry” Casaus. Nora was born on February 12, 1957 at Fairview Hospital. She is preceded in death by her father Candido “Candy Man” Martinez, sister Julia Czerwonka, brothers Derek Martinez and Johnny Martinez, nephew Jody Mares. She is survived by her mother and stepfather Betty and Randy Norris, sister and brother in law JoLynn and Rick Stout, sister Carmen Martinez, daughter and son-in-law Gina Naranjo [Juan Gonzalez-Perea], Melissa Austin, step daughters Renee Ollquist and Rachel Armas [Nissan], God-daughter Violet Smith, Jolena Gallegos [Eric], grandchildren Martin Cook [Angelica], Riahna Cook, Deja Quinones, Alexis Espinoza, Jon-Carlo Espinoza, Marquise Naranjo, Cameron Naranjo, Enrique Garcia, Brooklyn Austin, Evan Carr, Declan Ollquist, Olivia Armas, Jacob LaRose, Josiah LaRose, Jaxon LaRose, great-grandchildren Charlie Cook, Carter Cook, Kai Rey Quinones and many nieces, nephews and loving relatives to include great aunts and cousins.
As a child, she enjoyed horseback riding and with her keen love for horses and outdoors, this passion led her to work at Ted Turners, Vermejo Ranch in the late 90’s. Shortly thereafter she moved on to take her talents to the University of New Mexico Athletic Department as an Events Coordinator. Her final years as a homemaker allowed her the opportunity to bond with her grandbabies. She was a strong woman of faith who put others first through her generosity, as she would give the shirt off her back. She always had skills with numbers and used her intelligence by playing her daughters in Jeopardy and handicapping winning racehorses at the Downs of Albuquerque and Downs of Santa Fe. She enjoyed long drives with her husband, pinon picking, fishing, hunting, bowling, dancing, puzzles, and playing bingo. Nora had a niche for entertaining a room full of family and friends with her unique sense of humor and her contagious smile. Her energy will be missed and never forgotten.
