Modesto David Sanchez

Modesto Sanchez, 75, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away on January 12, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. 

Modesto was born July 28, 1949 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the son of Juan Maria Sanchez and Sebastiana Sanchez. 

Modesto joined the Navy on November 13, 1968 and honorably served until Feb 23, 1972. 

Modesto worked as a forest ranger and retired after more than 20 years of service. 

Remaining to cherish Modesto's memory are his children David Sanchez and Wendi Alvarado; grandchildren Taylor Sanchez, Jay Peacock, Anthony Alvarado, Lucas Sanchez, and Dean Alvarado; and his sister, Maria Anderson. 

Modesto was preceded in death by his wife, Belia Lucero Sanchez; his brothers, Gomez Sanchez, Juan Elmer Sanchez, and Benito Sanchez; his sister, Priscilla Young, and his parents, Juan Maria Sanchez and Sebastiana Sanchez. 

Services will be held at the Santa Fe National Cemetery January 27 at 1:30 pm followed by this “last ride” from Albuquerque to Santa Fe by the Choppehearse.
