Modestita “Mode” Albinita Garcia, aged 80, peacefully passed away on March 10, 2024, surrounded by her loving family at her home in Tijeras. Born on January 31, 1944, in Canoncito (Sandia Park) NM, Mode was a courageous and loving woman who always put her family and friends first. Her radiant smile had the power to brighten any room she entered. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Mode leaves behind a legacy of love and beauty. She is survived by her devoted husband of nearly 60 years, Gilbert Garcia, her son Tommy Garcia, grandchildren Thomas, Gabriel, and Esperanza Garcia, as well as her sister Catalina Maurino. In addition to her immediate family, she is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who cherished her dearly. Mode is now reunited in heaven with her son Randall Garcia and her parents Melcor and Flora Gutierrez along with brothers Donaciano, Hermenes, Luis and Gilberto Gutierrez.
In the words of a heartfelt poem: “When tomorrow starts without me, we’re not so far apart. For every time you think of me, I’m right here in your heart.”
The family would like to extend their special thanks to Mode's niece Victoria Gutierrez for her unwavering support. They are also grateful to the compassionate care provided by Presbyterian Hospice staff including Nurse Debbie and CNA Charlene.
Services in memory of Mode will be held at Holy Child Catholic Church in Tijeras, NM. A Rosary is scheduled for 9:00 am followed by a Mass at 10:00 am at the church located at 19 Cam De Santo Nino Tijeras, NM 87059.
Mode's presence will be deeply missed but her love and spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all those who were touched by her kindness and grace.
