Michael Joseph Roybal

Michael Joseph Roybal entered into eternal peace on September 8th, 2024, at age 67. He is survived by his loving mother: Isabel Ortiz, Sister and Brother-in-law: Lisa & Eddy Griggs, the mother of his children: Debra Roybal, his children: Adrien Roybal, Charlene Roybal, Michael Lee Roybal and David Carabajal (Bethany). His grandchildren: Adrien Roybal Jr., Ava Roybal, Anthony Roybal and Xander Carabajal, nieces and nephew: Matthew Tixier and children, Ariana Roybal and Cipriana Roybal. Michael is preceded in death by his father: George Roybal, his siblings: Pedro Roybal, Charles Gene Roybal, Baby Chris Roybal, Chris Roybal, Robert Roybal, and Eliza Ann Roybal, his maternal and paternal grandparents and all his uncles and aunts who helped raise him.

Michael was born on September 21st, 1956, in Las Vegas, NM and grew up being a cowboy on his family land in Trementina, NM; taming horses, branding cattle, hunting, and fishing. He met Debra Jaramillo (Roybal) in 1979 and together they raised four children. Michael had countless friends and was a calm and free spirit, but also a rebel who lived his life on his own terms. You could find him down by the river, fishing and living off the land, riding horses and shooting guns in the cañon, hanging out with his many cousins and friends, and doing what he loved best, riding his Harley-Davidson. Michael had a talent for leatherwork and painting, as well as a special love for music and the outdoors which he passed down to his children. He loved his blues, classic rock and reggae music and attended as many live music performances as he could before he was called home.

The Roybal family would like to extend sincere gratitude to his care team and his friend Lisa Carabajal for their help and support in difficult times.

Pallbearers include: Adrien Roybal Jr., Eddy Griggs, Jim Martinez, Lisa Carabajal, Leonard Naranjo, James Martinez, Anthony Sais and James Garcia.

Services for Michael will take place on September 20th, 2024, at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Tucumcari, NM to include a Rosary starting at 10:30 am with Mass of Resurrection to follow at 11:00 am. Interment will take place at our family cemetery in Trementina, NM. A separate viewing will be held on September 19th, 2024, at Trujillo Family Funeral Home in Albuquerque, NM from 5pm-7pm.
