Mary Agnes “Lorraine” Chavez (Martinez) was born on May 15, 1946, to Herman and Trinidad Martinez in Albuquerque, NM. She was the only daughter and second to youngest of five children. She graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1964 where she met her husband of 54 years, Felipe Chavez Jr. They were married at San Felipe de Neri Church on February 17, 1968. They had three children: Felicia, Lynette and Phillip. Lorraine worked in the banking industry her whole adult life and eventually retired from Sunwest Escrow Services.
On May 3, 2023, Lorraine joined her beloved husband Felipe after a hard-fought battle with Cancer. She was a loving woman that welcomed many people in her life and home. She lived with such grace and treated everyone with kindness and empathy. For everyone that stepped foot in her door, she greeted them with a warmth that made them feel welcomed and valued. There was always enough good food and drink to go around in her presence. She loved her family more than anything else. She beamed with joy when she spoke of all her grandchildren and bragged often. She loved decorating her home for each season or holiday, and everyone enjoyed the atmosphere she created. Her legacy lives on in each generation that follows her. Lorraine’s faith was unbreakable, and she attended mass online when she could no longer go in person. Her prayer list was long, and she kept those around her close to her heart.
Lorraine is preceded in death by her husband Felipe, parents Herman and Trinidad and brothers Raymond and Gerald.
Lorraine is survived by her daughters Felicia and Lynette (Michael) and son Phillip (Andrea); her eleven grandchildren, Niko (Dominique), Kenda, Gabriel (Danae), William, Phillip, Joseph, Jayden, Pauline, Aidan, Aaron and Secret and one great-grandchild, Logan. She is further survived by her brothers Donnie and Anthony.
