Maria Luisa Prather

Maria Luisa Prather (DeAguiar), 71, passed away on March 24, 2023, in Albuquerque, NM after a battle with cancer. Maria was born on June 21, 1951, in Terceira, Azores, Portugal to Jorge DeAguiar and Maria de Jesus Cassis. She was preceded in death by her parents, her stepmother Mary Macedo, and husband for many years Steven Prather. She moved to Alamogordo, NM with her husband and children in 1991, and moved to Albuquerque, NM for several years before returning to Alamogordo in 2021. Maria is survived by her 3 daughters: Lisa Yuka of Albuquerque, Stephanie Prather and Jennifer 

Cordova (Robert) of Alamogordo; along with 5 grandchildren: Kaitlyn Lawrence, David Huffman, D’Avian Prather, Embrace Cordova and Jazlyn Yuka; 2 great-grandchildren: Mason and Eilene Lawrence; and dearest cousin and best friend Brenda Plourde. Maria loved her family, as well as crocheting and collecting lighthouse decor among other things. She will be dearly missed and always remembered as a great mother to her kids and a great vovoa to her grandchildren.

Services will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, June 9, 2023, at Mountain View Church in Alamogordo, NM. Please come and celebrate her life with us.
