Maria "Nestora" Gonzales Lucero, age 90, a cherished resident of Albuquerque, passed away peacefully on Christmas day, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Born in San Pedro, Socorro County. Maria brought warmth and love to everyone she encountered throughout her life.
Preceding Nestora in death were her husband Manuel Lucero and her parents, Viviana and Juan Cristobal Gonzales. She carried their enduring legacy with grace and resilience, embodying the values they instilled in her throughout her life.
Nestora leaves behind an immeasurable impact on the lives of those fortunate enough to have been touched by her presence. She is survived by her two devoted sons, Leroy and his wife Patty, and Joe, who filled her heart with pride and joy. Also surviving Nestora are her two sisters, Lucela Gonzales and Timotea Vigil. Lou and Timo were not only Nestora's sisters but also her confidantes and unwavering sources of support during the various chapters of her life. Nestora also leaves behind 4 nieces and nephews. Her love extended deeply to her four adored grandchildren: Leroy, Lawrence, Antoinette, and Vanessa; as well as to her five cherished great-grandchildren: Jonas, Cameron, Gavin, Timmy, Michael, and Sophia. They were the lights that illuminated her existence.
Maria Nestora Gonzales Lucero will forever be remembered for a multitude of qualities that defined her essence - her biscochitos that brought delight to many; her boundless kindness that she showered upon all; her generosity that knew no bounds; but above all else was the profound love she shared with those fortunate enough to be a part of her life.
Her memory will forever reside within the hearts of her beloved family and friends. Maria's life exemplified remarkable values and serves as a testament to a life well-lived. Her legacy of love will endure through generations to come. May she find eternal peace.
Funeral services to honor Maria Nestora Gonzales Lucero will take place at St. Anne's Church on Thursday, January 18th at 8:15 AM.
