Marc A. Hintz Jr.
November 30, 1944 - January 30, 2025
Marc Hintz, age 80, of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, passed away Thursday, January 30, 2025.
Marc was born November 30, 1944, in Los Angeles, California. He was raised in Oelwein, Iowa but always had a love for California and the ocean.
Marc was preceded in death by his parents, Marc Hintz Sr., and Kathleen (Kent) Hintz.
Marc is survived by his wife Andrea Hintz (Gregory), his three loving daughters, Kerri, Katie, Kristi, son-in-law Brad Adams, grandchildren Hunter, Haley, and Nolan; sister Georgiana Cave and her spouse David; brother John Hintz and his spouse Kathy, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Marc was kind, loving, and generous. He was very friendly and could always find someone to talk to, no matter where he was. He loved his girls and he was so proud to be a grandpa. His grandkids called him “Papa.”
Marc was a very talented athlete. In high school, he played Varsity football, basketball, and baseball for the Oelwein Huskies. He went on to play football at Upper Iowa University. Unfortunately, he sustained a knee injury his freshman year. He remained an avid sports fan his entire life. He especially loved college football and major league baseball.
Marc earned his Bachelor’s degree from Northwest Missouri State University. He later obtained his teaching licensure from Truman State University. Marc was a school teacher for many years, and he loved his job. He has even kept in touch with some of his former students.
Marc was an active member of the Knights of Columbus, where he was a Fourth Degree Knight. He participated in many events and community service with his church.
He truly loved helping people and giving back to his community.
Marc loved his family, friends, sports, classic Hollywood movies, oldies music (especially the Beach Boys!), and good food. In his younger years, he enjoyed attending ball games and road trips with his family. He was also proud of his Irish heritage.
He will truly be missed.
