Rest in Peace, Lorenzo "Good and Faithful Servant"
Lorenzo Jojola Garcia
September 13, 1942 – December 20, 2024
An American Vietnam Veteran, Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Son and Brother. A humble man who wanted the best for his family, community and country. Lorenzo began working at a young age to provide milk for his younger sister Beatrice and his other siblings, doing whatever it took to provide for his family and people that he loved. Lorenzo was a humble man during hard times, if it meant he had to dumpster dive or recover useful items that others discarded to give a better life to his children and wife he did it, “no questions asked”. He always made sure the children had their fill even if it meant himself doing without! Lorenzo had a deep love for his country, volunteering for Vietnam before the draft began. Two tours of Vietnam – exposed to Agent Orange, PTSD, night terrors, flashbacks and not forgiving himself for his portion of the war. He was very proud of his service to his country – “Once a Marine always a Marine”.
He became a Barber by trade and loved serving the community for over thirty years owning Crossroads Barber Shop on Central in Albuquerque and later working in Bosque Farms and at the Village Barber Shop for years.
In the past year, I believe he came to terms with the past. He longed to see his darling (wife) again. For the last couple of weeks, he had been viewing old photo albums, wedding pictures, and old AHS reunion yearbooks “class of 1961”, he seemed to be preparing for his reunion with long-lost family, friends, loved ones, but most of all his darling Elizabeth Ann.
Lorenzo was very protective of his daughter Barbara. His response to his son-in-law Ernest, when asked for her hand in marriage was “yes, just her hand”!
He will be dearly missed always and daily!
Lorenzo Jojola Garcia (Military Years of Service 1962-1970) was presented with the following:
National Defense Service Medal
Good Conduct Medal
Vietnamese Service Medal with 1 Star
Vietnamese Campaign Medal

The American Flag is still hung in his room (on its indoor presentation pole complete with Golden tassels, on the wall service picture, and a shadow box with his medals.)
