In Loving Memory of Laura Macias

July 5, 1976 – April 10, 2025

It is with heavy hearts and immense love that we share the passing of Laura Macias — a mother, wife, daughter, sister, and the kindest soul this world was lucky to know. Laura took her final breath on April 10, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and unwavering faith.

Born in Nuevo Casas Grandes, Chihuahua, Mexico, on July 5, 1976, Laura was one of six siblings. From a young age, she embraced the role of nurturer, helping raise her younger siblings with the warmth and care that would define her for the rest of her life. Her smile could light up a room, her laugh could fill the emptiest space, and her presence brought peace and comfort to anyone lucky enough to know her.

At just 18, Laura became a nurse, guided by a deep sense of purpose and an unshakable belief in the importance of education. That same year, she married her first husband, and though she was widowed just four years later, she raised her daughter with strength, grace, and unconditional love. Life brought her a second chance at love when she remarried. Her husband, Tereso Macías, brought three children from a previous marriage into her life, and Laura opened her heart to them without hesitation. She made sure everyone felt loved and seen, because she knew firsthand the weight of a broken home — and more importantly, how to heal one.

At 35, Laura gave birth to her son, a miracle child born after many medical hardships — yet another testament to her courage and relentless hope. She never backed down from a challenge, always choosing faith over fear. She was the definition of resilience, facing life’s darkest moments with unmatched grace.

In 2016, Laura was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and underwent surgery to remove her pancreas. Despite the toll it took on her body, her faith remained unshaken. When the cancer returned, she once again rose to the fight with fierce determination. She lived not only to survive, but to love and give. She gave us memories, wisdom, and endless reminders of what it means to be selfless, strong, and full of light.

Laura is survived by her loving mother, Maria de Jesus Prieto; her devoted husband, Tereso Macías; and her children, Laura Flores and Ebani Macias. She also leaves behind her younger siblings, Lidia Medina and Diego Prieto, whom she raised and loved as her own.

Laura taught us that family is not just blood — it’s love, it’s sacrifice, and it’s showing up for each other, every single day. She welcomed all with open arms and a heart that never closed. Her legacy lives on in every life she touched and every soul she lifted.

Rest in peace, our strong, beautiful warrior. Rest in peace, Mami.

Your love lives on forever.

“The world was better because you were in it. Now heaven is brighter because you’re there.”
