It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Husband, father, Grandpa, son, brother, uncle, great uncle, great great uncle, godfather and friend.He is predeceased by daughter Katrina E. Zamora Ammens, Father Dock Harris, stepfather Bobby Jones, sister Cheryl D. Smith, brother-in-law Marshall Evans, father-in-law Hector Bustillos, and his beloved companion and friend Michael (dog).
Ken is survived by his soulmate, friend and wife of 25 years Carla Harris, daughter Summer Martinez, sons, Christopher Harris, Valentino Harris, Anthony (Venissa) Perea, stepdaughter Christine Perea, grandchildren, Kane Martinez, Evin Martinez, Angelo Perea, Julián Perea, Anjeliyah Perea, His mother Joan Harris-Jones. mother-in-law Eloisa Bustillos, siblings, Dock Harris, Betty Faye Norman, Arlena (Jan) Dickerson, Glenda Evans, Juanita (Ricardo) Rodriguez, and a host of brothers in law, sisters in law, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, great great nieces and nephews, goddaughters and godson and many friends.
Ken loved animals of all kinds and showed it by the 20 feral cats he adopted. He also fed racoons, skunks, neighborhood chickens and dogs. He would communicate with the critters on a daily basis.
Ken graduated from Albuquerque High, where he played on the football team, was a drum Major, and also participated in other sports. Ken later attended Highlands University. He played on semi pro football team the Thunderbirds for a short time. He joined the US Air Force and served 4 years. He joined the Albuquerque Police Department as a patrol officer and later joined the SWAT team. He was badly injured on the job and was forced to medically retire.
Ken enjoyed many hobbies. He enjoyed scuba diving at the Blue Hole and was a certified Instructor. He studied martial arts most of his youth and his adult years, attained rank as a 9th degree black belt and continued as his health permitted. He later went on to flight school to learn to fly fixed winged aircrafts and helicopters. He was a few hours from acquiring his license. His major health conditions forced him to give up his dream of flying. Ken enjoyed learning, training, and teaching, overall sharing his skills and knowledge. He enjoyed spending time with the grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He also liked talking on the phone with family and friends. Ken was loved and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
