Josiah Emiterrio Gurule

Josiah Emiterrio Gurule, age 23, passed away on Sunday, February 11,2024. He was born in Albuquerque, NM, and is survived by his father Alex Gurule, mother Karen Gurule, brothers Joseph Medina, Adrian Gurule, Isaac Gurule, Jesse Gurule, and sisters Felisha Gurule and Angelina Gonzales. Josiah is also survived by numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Josiah graduated from Atrisco Heritage Academy in 2019 and enlisted in the Army shortly thereafter. He successfully completed boot camp and was admitted into the esteemed Army Rangers. During his service, Josiah excelled in Airborne operations, Infantry operations, and Ranger Career Readiness Standards. He received several distinguished medals including the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with a Campaign Star, Humanitarian Service Medal, NATO medal, and an Expert Infantryman badge.

In 2020, Josiah graduated from the 75th Ranger Regiment of the U.S. Army Rangers and served as a Sergeant before returning home to Albuquerque to be with his family. Described as courageous, honest, kind-hearted, and talented by family members, friends, co-workers, and fellow servicemen who shared his journey accompanying him on tours of duty; Josiah's loss has deeply affected all who knew him. He will be dearly missed but forever remembered in our hearts.

A memorial service to honor Josiah will be held on Tuesday, February 27th at 11:00am at Calvary Chapel located at 4001 Osuna Rd. NE in Albuquerque with burial following at Sunset Memorial Park.
