Jose Trujillo

June 17, 1938 — November 24, 2024

Jose Luis Edumenio Trujillo, affectionately known to all as Ed or Eddie, passed away peacefully on November 24, 2024, at the age of 86. Born on June 17, 1938, in Hernandez, New Mexico, Ed lived a full and vibrant life, leaving a legacy of love, joy, and unforgettable memories.

Ed was named after his father, carrying on a cherished family tradition. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 18 years, Ernestine “Tina” Trujillo; his father Edumenio Jose Trujillo; his mother Anna Mae Wilson; his son Alex, who was his constant companion and partner in crime for all of life’s adventures; his sisters Francis, Rosie, and Marie; and his brothers Tony, Joe, and Ted.

He is survived by his brother, Uncle Bill; his loving daughters Yvonne and Eleanor, whom he adored; his grandchildren; and a large extended family who will forever cherish his memory.

Ed grew up in Hernandez, New Mexico, where he developed a love for the outdoors and a deep sense of community. He served as a police officer in Española, New Mexico, and later partnered with Tina to own and operate a bakery in Española. Their entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to family eventually brought them to Pasadena, California, where they raised their family.

While in California, Ed found his passion as a machinist. He worked for Panavision, where he contributed to groundbreaking innovations in movie camera technology that revolutionized the film industry—an achievement he was immensely proud of. He also worked for Kodak before eventually returning to New Mexico.

Ed had an extraordinary zest for life and a deep love for adventure. He enjoyed camping, motorcycle rides, trips to the ocean, and spending time outdoors with his children. A lover of Spanish and country music, he was often found dancing with joy and singing with his heart.

Above all, Ed was a devoted family man who cherished every moment with his loved ones. He was their protector, their guide, and their greatest source of encouragement. His love was boundless, and he would do anything for his family.

Services to celebrate Ed’s life will be held on Tuesday, December 10, at the Los Lunas Train Station, 101 Courthouse Rd., at 12:00 PM, with a gathering to follow immediately. Burial will take place at 3:00 PM.
