José Onésimo Luján Jr., 80 aka J.O or Joe of Embudo, NM passed away January 31st, 2024
surrounded by loved ones. Joe was born October 11, 1943. A life long Embudo resident, who
served his country in Vietnam as a Corporal of the U.S Marines, to then being honorably
discharged where he then served his community as a heavy equipment operator and a Road
Manager for Taos and Rio Arriba Counties. The highlight of Joe’s life was spending time with his
family and friends. Joe also enjoyed and spent his time gardening, tending to his animals,
fishing and camping, training racehorses and watching his favorite sports the NFL and horse
racing. We will cherish the memories we made with him forever in our hearts.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents J.O Luján Sr. and Guadalupe Trujillo Luján, paternal
grandparents Gregorita and J.P Luján I, maternal grandparents Margarita and Alfredo Trujillo,
brother José Armando (J.A) Luján, sisters Lillian Garcia and Margaret Martinez, parents in law
Vidal and Angie Cisneros.
Jose is survived by wife Maria Elena Luján (Helen), children Marcial Luján, Alfredo Trujillo
(Carol), Teena Trujillo, Jose Luján (Rosemarie), stepson Fredrick Cisneros (Paula), sisters
Naomi Salazar and Gregorita Garcia, brother J. P Luján II, sister in-law Rosalie Cisneros
(Ruben), brother in-law Lawrence Ciscneros. Grandchildren Analeah Luján, Elayna Luján,
Mateo Cisneros ( Ashley), Marilyn Martinez, Ashley Luján, Aliyah Luján, Stephen Luján, and
Han Luján. Great grandchildren Layla, Jayda, Mason, Raven, Evani, Axel, and Jeremiah. Lastly
he is survived by his beagle companion August.
A memorial and celebration of Joe’s life will be held at a later date.
