John Edward Sweeney Jr.

John Edward Sweeney Jr. November 24, 1962-January 30, 2023 (Age 60) 

John Edward Sweeney Jr. passed away on January 30, 2023 at the age of 60 after a long battle with serious medical conditions.

John was born on November 24, 1962 to John and Viola Sweeney in Farmington, New Mexico.  He graduated from Eldorado High School in 1980 and attended some college at TVI.

John was a very talented salesmen and quickly rose into management roles throughout his career to include a Financial Manager for ITT and a Rent-to-Own Manager for a slew of companies throughout his life.  His career in Rent-to Own management moved him to many different places including California, Nevada, Arkansas, Virginia and Tennessee. 

John enjoyed cooking, he was a great cook, watching sports, he was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan, and spending time with family and friends.  Anyone who knew John knew what a sense of humor he had.  He loved to laugh and loved to make people laugh, he was always joking and pulling pranks on people.  He kept his sense of humor to the very end, always joking around with the nurses and medical staff. 

John was predeceased by his wife Brenda Sweeney, father John E. Sweeney Sr., grandparents, George and Sophia Sweeney and Marcella and Ralph Ciddio and brother and sister, Ralph and Loretta Sweeney.   He is survived by his mother, Viola Sweeney, sister, Shelly Schancer and husband Kory Schancer, brother, Ted Sweeney, 6 children; Crystal Martinez and husband Casey Martinez Jr, John Sweeney III and wife Kristen Sweeney, Brittany Sweeney, Chelsea Browning, Brandon Sweeney and Cameron Sweeney; niece, Taylor Schancer nephew, Levi Schancer; and 13 grandchildren with 1 on the way, Liam, Savanna, Elaina, Easton, Elijah, Jayden, Abella, Evelyn, Wesley, Mia, Athena, Sienna and Elias.    

Services will be held for John on Friday, February 10, 2023 at St. Jude Catholic Church, 5712 Paradise Blvd NW, Albuquerque, NM 87114.  Rosary will be at 9:30AM followed by a funeral Mass at 10:15AM and burial at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
