John Anthony Estrada, age 52, passed away at home in San Luis, New Mexico on July 28, 2023. He fought Stage 4 Metastatic Pancreatic Cancer which was diagnosed in February 2023. He is survived by his wife of 33 years Veronica (Lucero), and his three children John Jr., James his fiancé Romona Candelaria, and his daughter Melissa. He will always be remembered by his twin grandsons Jax and Abel and a granddaughter on the way, Reyna, his mother Mary Ellen Estrada (Lovato) his father Antonio (Tony) Estrada (who recently passed away 08/09/2023), sisters Darlene Archibeque (husband Greg), Monica and his brother Erik. John will never be forgotten by the countless nieces and nephews, aunties, and uncles. John took pride in his catholic values and his family was always the most important to him. John was preceded in death by all his grandparents on the Estada and Lovato families as well as Juan C. Zamora (Nane) and Josefita Zamora (Fita) who were a large part of raising John.
John had a great love for his community of Bernalillo, NM. He served the Town of Bernalillo Fire Department for many years. John started as a volunteer and worked his way up to becoming the first paid Fire Chief for the town. His priority was to keep the community in order and he thrived on the safety of its residents. John worked with many different departments around Sandoval County as well as a firefighter with an oil refinery in Gallup, NM. John also enjoyed fishing, hunting, and protecting his Second Amendment Rights. He also liked to watch sporting events, especially if it was his grandson’s playing basketball and football. His favorite sports teams were the Denver Broncos and the Colorado Rockies. He was an amazing father, husband, brother, son, uncle, and friend.
He will be sorely missed and will always hold a place in our hearts.

Services for John will be at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Bernalillo on Friday, September 1, 2023 at 9:30 AM with a Rosary immediately followed by the funeral mass. John will be buried at the OLOS cemetery in Bernalillo. The family invites everyone to join them at their home. Contact the family for more information.
