Ira Quincy Hickman

June 18, 1971 — July 26, 2024

Ira Quincy Hickman, age 53 passed away on Friday, July 26, 2024. His greatest honor was being a father. He loved his kids more than he loved his profession. He was proud to be a Lineman and tried to talk everyone he knew into joining this profession. He traveled the world working on lines and dangled from helicopters and buckets for the experience. His biggest dream was to do line work in Antarctica. We hope he’s there now. For a man that was afraid of heights, this was a treat. He tried to conquer his fears by jumping out of airplanes for fun. He spent time in prison. He was released daily because he was actually a guard. He was outspoken and took a joke as well as he told one. He was so excited when he won an Olympic medal in golfing (across the highway in Alcalde). The UPS driver was his final obstacle and he nailed him as he tried to drive away. He always had a story to tell whether it was true or not. Ira was born to Pearl and Joey Hickman. He grew up in Alcalde, NM.

He is survived by his children Vincent and Lily Hickman of Austin, TX, his siblings Jerry (Alice) Ball, Timothy (Leslie) Hickman, Margie (Mike) O’Neill, Adam Hickman, Jolene Herring, Julie (Mike) Hickman, Donna (Glenn) Williams, many nieces and nephews and of course our Gonzales clan. He is proceeded in death by his momma Pearl Reid, Randy Hickman, Suzy Hickman and Carlton Hickman.

He will be forever missed and loved. Services will be held in Albuquerque at Trujillo’s Family Funeral Home, 110 Alvarado Dr. SE on August 10th , from 1 pm to 3 pm with a celebration of life at the O’Neill residence, 8708 Desert Dawn Dr. NE from 4 pm to 8 pm.
