Ida E. Segura, aged 83, of San Mateo, New Mexico, peacefully passed away on September 17, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Born on February 24, 1941, to the late Ismael and Leticia Salazar, Ida was preceded in death by her cherished husband, Liberato Segura, whose passing just a month earlier left her longing for her one true love. She is also reunited in eternal rest with her stepson, Benny Segura; her grandson, Bryan Johnson; her son-in-law, Mario Flores; and her siblings, Arsenio Salazar (twin brother), Eufemia Trujillo, and Arturo Salazar.
Ida was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Her warmth and generosity created a welcoming home where the spirit of family and love thrived. Ida was an extraordinary cook who could transform simple ingredients into unforgettable meals, with her renowned red chile and freshly made tortillas being particular favorites. She found joy in nurturing her family through her cooking talents, making every gathering a cherished occasion.
Through meals, endless support, and unconditional love, Ida created a sense of belonging and connection vital to our family's well-being with the help of her beloved husband, Libby. Her open home invited friends and extended family, expanding her love and enriching our family dynamic.
A devout Catholic, Ida devoted herself to prayer, often joined by her beloved husband, Libby. They would pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet at 3:00 p.m. daily and recite the rosary each evening. Their faith guided them through life’s journeys, often beginning their travels with a heartfelt prayer.
Ida is survived by her beloved daughters, Roxanne Segura and Christina Flores; her beloved stepchildren, Veronica Serrano (Polo), Nena Saiz (Michael), Pat Segura (Kelly), Jerry Segura (Rose), Antonio Segura, and Twiggy (Joan) Segura; twenty grandchildren; and numerous great- grandchildren. She is also survived by her cherished sisters, Vangie Armijo and Rafaelita Baca.
Pallbearers will be Rico Santillanes, Mario Flores Jr, Marcos Flores, Richard Anaya, Jerry Segura Jr and Martín Gonzales.
Ida’s fiery spirit and unwavering love and support for her family will be profoundly missed. She will forever remain our sweet guardian angel, deeply cherished in our hearts.
