On November 1, 2024, Harry James Casaus gained his angel wings. Harry James was born to Jose A and Dolores Casaus on November 14,1949 in Albuquerque New Mexico. He grew up in Cuba, New Mexico where he learned to love the land and the ranch. From a very early age he owned and cared for his own cattle. He would raise grain and hay during the summer to feed the cows and horses for the winter. Being an only child he also learned how to cook and spent time helping his mother can jelly and vegetables every fall. After high school Harry James joined the Air Force where he proudly served for 4 years. While in the Air Force he became a skilled welder. A skill he continued to practice for most of his life. After his military service he returned to Cuba to raise his family on the ranch that he loved and would later pass on the love of the land and livestock. While being a cowboy was his passion he also worked in the mines and oil field in the area.
Harry James is preceded in death by his parents Jose and Dolores Casaus, God Parents Jimmy Barrogen and Dora Casaus.
He is survived by his 4 children, Julie Casaus of Cuba, Levi and wife Veronica Casaus of Cuba, Jackson Casaus of Montana, and Mariah Johnson of Los Lunas NM. Four grandchildren Triana Martinez(Richard Hernandez)of Albuquerque NM, TraciLynn Martinez (Steven Trujillo) of Ponderosa NM, Levi Casaus Jr. and wife Janelle Casaus of Cuba NM, and Kolt Casaus of Texas. He has six great grandchildren, Mariana Trujillo, Elena Trujillo, , Angelica Trujillo, and Estevan Trujillo ,Malakai Casaus, Ezekiel Casaus . Finally, he is survived by many nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, November 22, 2024 with visitation with family at 6:00 pm with the Recitation of the Holy Rosary to follow at 7:00 pm at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cuba, NM. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, November 23, 2024 at 11:00 am also at Immaculate Conception Church in Cuba, NM with burial to follow at the Casaus Family Ranch.
