Mr. Guillermo Rivas-Jimenez, a devoted husband, loving father, doting grandfather, and cherished great-grandfather, passed away on Saturday, May 18th, 2024, after bravely battling Brain Cancer.
Guillermo was born in Santiago Papasquiaro, Durango. He met his beloved wife Maria De La Luz Rivas in his hometown, and together they nurtured a beautiful family. Their legacy includes seven children: Samuel, Gloria, Estela, Mary, Nancy, Yolanda, and Guillermo Jr.
In 1975, Guillermo embarked on a new chapter in his life by moving to the United States. There, he worked diligently as a cook in various restaurants to ensure his family's well-being. His dedication to providing for his loved ones knew no bounds.
Guillermo found joy in simple pleasures such as gardening, music appreciation, and culinary pursuits. However, nothing brought him greater happiness than spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He leaves behind a lasting impact on 20 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Throughout his life's journey, Guillermo resided in different places that each held significance for him. From Durango to Chihuahua where he established his first family home and later to Albuquerque, New Mexico where he spent 26 meaningful years of his life. A viewing and prayer service will be held at the Trujillo Family Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, beginning at 6:00 pm. The Funeral Service will take place on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at 11:00 am at Lirio de Los Valles Christian Church under the guidance of Pastor Saul Manriquez with the burial to follow at 1:00 pm at Sunset Memorial Park.
Guillermo lived a fulfilled life overflowing with cherished memories created alongside cherished family members and friends. He will be dearly missed but forever remembered for the love and warmth he shared with all who had the privilege of knowing him.
