Gerald Eugene Koppe

GERALD E. KOPPE (Gene) of Rio Rancho, NM, passed away in Rio Rancho, NM, on 25 November 2023.

Gene was born in Campbellstown, OH, to Russell and Ruth Daily Koppe. He followed his father’s path and worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad in his younger years until he enlisted in the Air Force during the Korean conflict. After serving his country, he followed his passion to become an engineer by completing his aerospace engineering degree at Parks College in St Louis, MO.

In 1951 he married Jean Andrus. Together they had four children.

Gene had a long and successful engineering career working in aerospace. He particularly loved his time supporting Special Ops. In 1996, he retired from Lockheed Martin in Ontario, CA. Shortly thereafter, he and his wife Marilynn Yoerg, whom he married in Bullhead City, AZ, in 1988, moved to Rio Rancho, NM, to enjoy their retirement.

Gene leaves behind his children Lee (Palea) Koppe, Pam Koppe, Jeff (Helen) Koppe, and Steve Koppe, two grandsons, two granddaughters, and two stepdaughters. He was predeceased by his wife and one stepdaughter.

A celebration of life will be held at the family’s convenience, at the Trujillo Family Funeral Home in Albuquerque, NM. Interment will be in Santa Fe National Cemetery.
