Geneva Hernandez, a source of love, compassion, and unwavering strength left us on
May 22, 2024. Geneva was born on October 15, 1971, in Albuquerque, NM. She
graduated from Albuquerque High School and ventured out to other cities and states
after. She later returned to Albuquerque where she planted her roots and created a
loving home for all of her children and grandchildren. She touched all of our lives in so
many ways.
Geneva is survived by her children Desiree, Vanessa, Michael, and Brianna, her three
loving sisters, and numerous nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind the absolute
lights of her life - her grandchildren Aleah, Xavier, Rylie, and Sonny.
She is preceded in death by her mother Jennie and father Henry Rick Ramirez.
Geneva gave boundless love, showed selflessness, and told many jokes just when you
needed it. She was a beacon of warmth, always offering a listening and supportive ear.
She enjoyed talking with all her friends for hours on end. Geneva always prioritized her
kids’ and grandkids’ needs, no matter what it was.
If you knew her, you knew Geneva was a huge fan of Kobe Bryant, the Lakers, Dallas
Cowboys, and the Lobos and was ready to take the heat as a loyal fan whether her
team won or lost. She would love reading her books at any chance she could get. She
also always made sure to have her lipstick and earrings on. Geneva gave many years
of her life to her career with the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office, where she found
absolute joy in the work she did.
