Felipe Chavez Jr.
Felipe was born on December 6, 1945 to Felipe Chavez and Mercedes Lueras in Albuquerque, NM. He was the fifth of nine siblings and grew up in the San Jose neighborhood. He graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1964 and joined the New Mexico Air National Guard in 1965. He married Lorraine in 1968 at San Felipe de Neri Church and they had three children; Felicia, Lynette and Phillip.
Felipe lived life to the fullest. He almost always had a beer in one hand and a guitar in the other. He was a top-notch car salesman in his day and worked for several different car dealerships. He was always available to lend a helping hand for family and friends in need. He would always carry his guitar with him, in hopes of someone needing accompaniment. His gigs included funerals, weddings, parties, the VA and church. As a matter-of-fact he played for three different churches every Sunday for several years, probably more for the socialization than the sermon. He was one of the founding members of the San Martin de Porres choir.
Felipe knew no strangers and would run into friends everywhere he went. He loved to carry on conversations with everyone and anyone, he definitely had the gift of gab. We are positive that he has reunited with all of the loved ones that he’s missed over the years and is already auditioning for God’s band in Heaven. He will be greatly missed by all.
Felipe is proceeded in death by his by his parents Felipe Chavez and Mercedes Lueras and his brothers Teofilo, Oriol, David, Robert and Anthony.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years Lorraine; his daughters Felicia and Lynette (Michael) and son Phillip (Andrea); his eleven grandchildren, Niko (Dominique), Kenda, Gabriel (Danae), William, Phillip, Joseph, Jayden, Pauline, Aidan, Aaron and Secret and one great-grandchild, Logan. He is further survived by his brother Paul and his sisters Linda and Shirley.
