Ernest Saiz peacefully passed away after a short illness and surrounded by family at his home on Thursday, May 18, 2023 in Albuquerque, NM. He was born December 31, 1941. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Dolores Saiz. Ernie is survived by his two children, Betty Amador and Joshua Saiz; four grandchildren, Mariano Jonathan and Rebecca (Betty), Natalia and Emilia (Josh). Ernie’s surviving siblings are Marie “Chela” Todd, Mary Jean Sanchez (married to Ray Sanchez), and Leo Saiz as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents Pablo and Alice Saiz, brothers Charlie Saiz, Alvino Saiz, Albert Saiz, and sister Lucy Joiner.
Ernest was an acclaimed printer with Sandia National Labs and various companies in Albuquerque. He also was a beloved flower delivery man during the early 2000’s. Ernie was actively involved with St. Joseph on the Rio Grande Catholic Church,and was one of the head ushers during the early years of the parish. He loved his “Ranchera” music on 89.1 and was commonly known as “Ernie Macaron”.
A rosary will be recited on Monday, June 12, 2023 at 8:15 a.m.,and the Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 9:00a.m. at St. Joseph on the Rio Grande Catholic Church, 5901 St JosephsDr NW, interment will take place at Sunset Memorial. Arrangements have been entrusted to Trujillo Family Funeral Home, 110 Alvarado Drive.
