It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Elizabeth Torres, 73, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, who passed away peacefully on October 29, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on November 12, 1950, to Ephraim and Adelina Torres, Elizabeth was one of ten siblings. She is preceded in death by her parents, as well as her brothers Ephraim David, Bobby, Edward, Adolph, and her sister Rose Kelcourse.
Elizabeth is survived by her sister Eileen Montoya (and husband Manuel), Bernice Sisneros (and husband Pete), Carlos Torres (and wife Mary), and her brother Ronnie Torres, along with many cherished nieces, nephews and friends.
We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to Alianza Family Services for their unwavering care and support throughout the years. Thank you to Hospice of New Mexico, including all the dedicated staff, nurses and doctors, whose compassionate care for Elizabeth and her family brought comfort during this challenging time. A special thank you to Kathy and Chad; your steadfast support and kindness went beyond friendship—you are truly family.
Elizabeth had a remarkable gift for arts and crafts and a love for puzzles. She lived a life filled with grace, kindness, and affection. Known for her gentle spirit and warm heart, she made everyone feel loved, even upon first meeting them. She touched the lives of everyone who knew her, often sharing laughter and her unique “secret handshake,” which was secretly shared with everyone. Elizabeth will be missed, she brightened every room. Elizabeth was one of the most caring, happy, loving people one could meet. Elizabeth had a special place in her heart for The Wizard of Oz, Little House on the Prairie, Elvis, and above all, her family. In the final days, she often spoke of reuniting with her mother. She spoke of conversations that they had in her dreams, filled with a sense of peace, joy and excitement rather than fear. Now, we take comfort in knowing that they are joyfully reunited, sharing laughter and perhaps even a slice of chocolate cake. Elizabeth will be dearly missed, we know that, but now it is time for Elizabeth to start the next part of her journey, and I hope we can take solace in the fact that she will not be alone and that her mother and loved ones will be with her along the way.
Rest in peace, Elizabeth. You are loved beyond measure, and your memory will live on in all of our hearts.
