Elena Marie Luna

Elena Marie Luna (Vasquez), age 75, went to be with the Lord on September 2, 2024, in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

 Her loved ones surrounded her as she passed peacefully. Born on May 5, 1949, in Roswell, New Mexico, she was a beloved figure in her community and a devout Catholic member of Estancia Valley Catholic Parish. Elena spent her career in manufacturing, dedicating many years to the industry with diligence and pride. Beyond her professional life, she was deeply passionate about spending time with her family, gardening, and engaging in her favorite hobbies which included going to casinos, scratching lottery tickets, and visiting yard sales. She was a radiant presence, known for her kind and giving nature, and her ability to light up any room she entered. Elena cherished her family immensely, especially her husband of 55 years, Alfredo Luna. 

She is survived by Alfredo; daughters, Rhonda Crespin (Phillip), Jeanette Luna (Dennis Chavez), and Vanessa Luna (Tyler Garcia); and grandchildren, Angel Luna, Evangeline Luna, Adelina Pallottino, Elijah Crespin, Miguelangel Chavez, Alejandro Luna, Angelita Chavez, D'Angelo Chavez, Azayah Luna, and Apaulo Garcia. 

Siblings- Sister Jane Quezada, Sister Mary Huskey, Sister Cecilia Mitchem, Sister Polly Guiterrez and husband Lupe, Sister Porfie Sedillo, Sister Jesse Washburn and husband Bill, Brother Cesar Vasquez and wife Jeanette, Brother Albert Vasquez, Brother Edwin Vasquez, Sister Sylvia Sedillo and husband Ted. As well as many special nieces and nephews and family.

She was preceded in death by her Grandparents, Ignacio Herrera, Prejeres Benavides-Herrera, Francisco Vasquez and Jesusita Vasquez, Parents, Mother Adela Herrera-Vasquez, Father Jose Vasquez, Her Son Alfredo "Paul" Luna, Siblings, Jose Alberto Vasquez, Moises Vasquez, Rosemary Vasquez-Duran, Ray Vasquez and Margie Vasquez-Jaramillo. 

Services for Elena will be held at the Estancia Catholic Parish St. Peter and Paul on Monday, September 9th, commencing with a viewing at 10 a.m., followed by the rosary at 11 a.m., and the mass at noon. The burial will proceed at the Estancia Cemetery.
