Edward Lovato

February 11, 1958 — December 13, 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Edward Isa ( Ivy ) Lovato On Friday, December 13, 2024, at the young age of 66 at his home in Bernalillo, New Mexico. Ivy was born on February 11, 1958, in Cuba New Mexico to Isa and Rebecca Lovato.

Ivy grew up in San Ysidro New Mexico. He went to Jemez Valley schools all the way through high school where he loved and excelled in basketball. When he was in high school that's when he met the mother of his three daughters Cheryl O'Connor ( Lovato)they were married in 1979 and stayed together for over twenty years.

Ivy loved the outdoors, fishing, and hunting but his most favorite place to be was at the ranch in San Luis New Mexico with his dad. For most of his life, he was a rancher. He loved to ride horses, brand, fix fences, move cattle and break horses. ( he had the hands to show for it) He loved going to the casino with his partner Margaret Romero and they loved snacking and eating. You would never not catch Ivy snacking. He loved playing the guitar any time his grandsons came over he would always pull the guitar out to have a little jam session.

Ivy was a very hard-working, loving caring man, always willing to lend a helping hand whenever he could. Ivy loved telling stories of when he was growing up or as he would say the good old days. He was always doing pranks and funny things to make people laugh. Anything to put a smile on someone's face. The one thing about Ivy is he never bothered anyone and loved being at home with Margaret. He was a homebody.

Ivy was a very loving and devoted partner, father, Nino, son, uncle, brother, cousin, and friend. If you knew Ivy the one thing he loved and cherished more than anything in this world was his three daughters Marcia, Charlene, and Carmen. They were his pride and joy!

He loved his partner Margaret Romero with all his heart. He was truly devoted to her for over the last twenty-plus years. They were inseparable.

Ivy is preceded in death by his parents Isa and Rebecca Lovato, His daughter Charlene Lovato, his brothers Marvin and Stephan Lovato, and his nephew Marvin Lovato.
