Diego Garcia

Diego Garcia, 92, of Albuquerque, NM, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Friday, March 22^nd, 2024.

Diego passed away peacefully in his home in the South Valley.

Diego was born December 14, 1931, to Tomas Garcia and Rosa Gonzales, who he preceded in death as well as his loving wife of 66 years, Mary Garcia and great grandson, Michael Garcia.

Diego was survived by his daughter Rosemary Gonzales and son Diego Joseph Garcia, 5 grandchildren, Lisa Gabaldon, Jessica Marez and husband Matthew, Monica Cruz and husband Margo, Diego Garcia III and wife Madalena, and Joseph Garcia.

14 great-grandchildren Marissa Vigil, Michael Garcia who preceded in death, Margo Cruz Jr, Delysia Garcia, Gabriel Marez, Mario Cruz, James Marez, Daniel Marez, Analeya Garcia, Layla Garica, Kaylynn Garcia, Diego Garica IV, Miley Garcia, Maddie Garcia.

Diego Garcia was Blessed to have met his great-great-grandchildren, Mychael Garcia, Rosemarie Garcia, Layla Garcia, Liliana Montoya, Jacob Cruz, Mia Garcia.

Diego was a proud Veteran and served in Korea as a tanker, Co C 73^rd Tank Bn where he received a Korean service medal, UN Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal.

He worked and retired from the City of Albuquerque and during his time he touched many lives with his stories and countless jokes.

Diego was a lifelong practicing catholic at St. Anne’s Church where he donated lots of time ushering for over 60 years!

A mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. at St. Anne Catholic Church, 1400 Arenal Road S.W; Interment will follow at Our Lady of Belen Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Belen, New Mexico; Pallbearers will be Diego Garcia lll, Margo Cruz Jr., Gabriel Marez, James Marez, Mario Cruz, Diego Garcia lV, Daniel Marez.

 Honorary Pallbearers: Marissa Vigil, Delysia Garcia, Analeya Garcia, Layla Garcia, Kaylynn Garcia, Miley Garcia, Maddie Garcia.
