The Lord called our Connie home on October 11, 2023 after a long battle with cancer (3rd time). She was born from humble beginnings in Rowe, NM, graduated at 16, moved to Denver, to begin her career as a young business professional. Additionally, she modeled while in Denver, her picture was featured on a billboard on Sloan's Lake. She then moved to Albuquerque to be closer to her mom, whom she missed dearly and attended UNM. She then obtained a position with the Dept. of Interior, Bureau of Land Management receiving a clearance to travel to Alaska. However, she met Eddie Francis, the love of her life, who became her husband of 45 years, and she forfeited that opportunity.
Connie had a contagious love of life, which was exhibited by her love of skiing, bowling (on several leagues), fishing, dancing, karaoke, and casinos! She was always excited to venture out, explore new places and experiences with family and friends. She acquired her Real Estate Broker’s license after being an accomplished Escrow Officer and Closer. Her business thrived as she operated with a strong value system, loving her work and the people she served. During her tenure as a Broker for over 40 years, she was involved in the CARNM Education Committee, Community Relations board, Grievance committee, and the Professional Standards committee for over seven years. She also obtained her certification as an Ombudsman. Connie was a strong believer in giving back to the community as she volunteered with Cuidando Los Ninos, Albuquerque Reads Program, and other organizations, her kindred spirit will be missed.
She is survived by her beloved daughter, Carla Francis, beloved son, David Francis, beloved granddaughter, Sonja Rae Francis, and beloved Niece, Cindy (Francis)Zastrow, whom she loved as a daughter. Also many other nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie H. Francis, parents, Jose and Isabel Gutierrez, sisters, Hilda Cruz and Gloria Otero, brothers, Joe L. and Carlos Gutierrez.
