Benina J. Gonzales

Our hearts are heavy as we mourn the loss of our beloved Benina Josephyne Elaiza Gonzales, known affectionately as BJ. She was called to heaven on November 5, 2023, at the age of 34. Born on April 6, 1989, in Taos, NM, Benina's time with us was far too short, but she touched the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Benina had a heart of gold and a spirit overflowing with love and laughter. Her generosity knew no bounds as she showered those around her with her kindness and warmth. Whether it was through her heartfelt hugs or her quick wit that could brighten even the gloomiest of days, Benina had a way of making everyone feel special and loved.

Music had a special place in Benina's heart, and she found solace in its melodies. She had an adventurous spirit that led her to explore new horizons through traveling. Dancing brought her immeasurable joy and allowed her to express herself freely. Benina also had a nurturing side and took great pleasure in caring for others.

One of Benina's many talents was making pizza, which became an expression of love for those lucky enough to share in her culinary creations. But above all else, Benina cherished quality time spent with her family and friends. These precious moments meant the world to her, leaving memories that will forever be treasured.

Benina has now reunited with her parents, Robert and Christine "Christy" Gonzales, as well as her grandparents: Jose Nick Sr. and Mercy Struck; Frank "Natch" Mondragon; and Elaiza Gonzales. She is also joined by cherished aunts, uncles, and cousins whom she deeply missed during their time apart.

While we grieve the loss of our dear Benina, we find solace in knowing that she is now at peace. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind. She is survived by her furry companion, "Daisy," and her adoring siblings: Natalie Struck (Andy), Robert "Robbie" Gonzales (Cassity), and Raquel Gonzales (Ernest).

Benina's presence will also be greatly missed by her nephews: Lorenzo Gallegos (Janet) and Jaden Wilkinson, as well as her nieces: Andrea Romero (Mike), Christina Romero (Francisco), Querida Gallegos (Josue), and Monica Gonzales. She held a special place in the hearts of her Tios: Elsie Lopez (Uvaldo), Nick Struck Jr. (Diana), and Mannie Duran (Jimmy).

We are grateful for those who had the privilege of sharing a significant part of Benina's life. Her devoted companion, Michelle Rodriguez, brought great happiness to her days. Benina also formed a deep bond with her special cousin, Roni Gonzales from Alb., and spent the last four months creating cherished memories together.

Special friends Mark and Oliver George held a special place in Benina's heart, as did her pizza family at Giovanni's. The bonds she formed with all these loved ones will forever hold a special place in their hearts.

A service to honor Benina's memory will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at 11:00 am at the Pentecostal Church of God on Hatchery Rd., Taos, NM. Following the service, a meal will be served at the Hotel Don Fernando Restaurant where expressions of condolences to the family can be offered.

As we navigate the pain of losing Benina, let us remember her vibrant spirit, her unconditional love, and the joy she brought into our lives. We are grateful for every moment we shared with her and carry her memory in our hearts forever.
