Antonio "Tony" Gilbert Estrada

Antonio Gilbert Estrada (Tony), age 76, born February 8, 1947, went to be with Our Lord on Wednesday, August 9, 2023.  He peacefully passed away at his home in Cuba, New Mexico in the loving arms of his wife, Mary Ellen Estrada, and the embrace of his loving family by his side. He was diagnosed with brain and lung cancer in March of 2023.

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Mary Ellen Estrada, his daughter in law Veronica Estrada (Lucero), his three children Darlene Archibeque and husband Greg Archibeque (of Algodones), Monica Estrada, and Erik Estrada, his grandchildren, and many Estrada family and friends.

Grandchildren:  John Jr. Estrada, James (Romona) Estrada, Melissa Estrada, Greg Jr. (Mercedez) Archibeque, Francisco Archibeque, Michael Archibeque, Miguel Madrid, Derik Madrid, Johnathon Unale, and Ashyln Elaine Estrada.

Great Grandchildren: Jayriah Larez, Kahlani Archibeque, Kiara Archibeque, Jax Estrada, Abel Estrada, and Reyna Rose Estrada (on the way).

Antonio was preceded in death by his son, John Anthony Estrada, his loving parents who raised him, Juan (Nane) Zamora and Josefita (Fita) Zamora, Frank Estrada, Josephine Estrada, stepsister Manuelita and Johnny Zamora, special brother Michael Estrada, and many Estrada brothers and sisters.

Antonio Estrada recently lost his beloved son John Anthony Estrada to pancreatic cancer on July 28, 2023, at the age of 52. Within two weeks, they both gained their wings and are now seated at the right hand of Our Heavenly Father.

Antonio was a Vietnam veteran and was proud to have served his country. He took pride in his catholic faith, loved his family dearly, he always smiled, and always had a joke to share with everyone. Antonio continuously encouraged his family to do their best and to always have faith. He was a great listener and so very caring about others. He always offered a helping hand. He will always be loved by those who know him, and he will be sorely missed.

On Saturday, October 7th, there will be a memorial service at the veteran's memorial wall in Bernalillo across from Allsup's. This is where they will do the traditional folding of the flag, memorial song, and taps will be played. The rosary will start at 10:30 followed by the mass at 11 am. After the services, everyone is welcome to celebrate the life of Tony at the Social Center next to the church. He will be buried at a later date.
