Albert "Big Al" Campbell

Albert “Big Al” Campbell, a beloved resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away on February 14, 2024, at the age of 73. Surrounded by his loved ones, Albert's life journey began on April 23, 1950, in Fitzgerald, Georgia.

Albert was known for his roles as a devoted father, coach, and friend. His passions included his faith in God, fishing excursions, watching various sports events, and coaching young athletes. In 1975, he commenced his dedicated service to the city of Albuquerque until his retirement in 2001. Following his retirement, he managed the Grace thrift store for over a decade while cherishing every moment with his closest companion and wife Mary Helen.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Mary Helen and their four children: Chelle Thompson, Joey Campbell, Star Rodriguez, and Suni Campbell. Beyond his enthusiasm for sports, Albert wholeheartedly embraced his faith and believed in giving back to the community. For more than twelve years, he was an active member of Sandia Church of the Nazarene where he selflessly contributed through volunteer work and lending a helping hand whenever needed.

Albert's genuine love for children radiated through his actions and demeanor; he was adored by many young hearts who found joy and inspiration in his presence. His remarkable positivity touched everyone he encountered, leaving a lasting impact on our community that shall be deeply missed.

A memorial service to celebrate Albert’s life is scheduled for Friday, March 1st at 2:00 pm at Sandia Valley Church of the Nazarene located at 2315 Markham Rd SW, Albuquerque, NM 87105. Albert's legacy lives on through the countless hearts he has touched with his kindness and selflessness.
